Ann Curry
Ann Curry is a photojournalist, journalist and author who has been covering war zones for the past forty-five years. Her focus is on the human suffering of disasters and human tragedy. Curry covered wars in Kosovo, Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry, (born November 19th 1956, Agana American journalist, television anchor and news reporter who was best known for her role as a reporter on the Today program, which was a morning news program aired by the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Her reporting stood out because of her coverage of human crisis that occurred in war-torn countries as well as natural catastrophes. Curry's father served as a sailor within the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. They met during the time her father was stationed in Japan in the aftermath of World War II. As a result of the military service of her father, her family has moved several times. Curry finished her high school education in Ashland Oregon. The University of Oregon awarded her the degree of bachelor of arts in journalism. She is likely to have developed an empathetic manner of communication because of her experiences with other cultures during her childhood. Curry's family was often moving which is why Curry did not stay in one school more than two year. Curry attended various schools including San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia as well as Virginia. In the end, she was able to graduate from Ashland High School. Her journey to a successful career when she started her broadcasting career by working as an intern for KTVL Channel 10 in Medford Oregon. She later became the first female news reporter in the station's history at the age of 22. After that, she moved onto becoming an anchor and reporter at KGW, the NBC affiliate station located in Portland. Then she returned in Los Angeles four years later as a journalist for KCBS TV. There were two Emmy Awards were won during her time with TV station KCBS.
